LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE receives Marie-Laure S. Louis for a research residency from January 15 to February 25, 2018.

In her artistic practice, Louis is interested in issues related to identity, including the (re)presentation of the Black Woman in the context of conceptual and documentary photographic art. Her production is very diversified and is influenced by a United States approach of photography.

During her residency in our documentation center, her ambition is to search deeper the absence and presence of the Black Woman in our archives. In an interest marked by the American Black Feminism, she cultivates the idea of an open photographic art to share ideas.

Through this research, she will be able to nourish her own ongoing artistic work that is built by her own African/Mauritian and Black Woman’s body through the research and production of photographic images.
