Using the technology available at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, Ilana has further developed digital images that she began in Mexico. Thanks to public compliance, Ilana was able to introduce modified postcards of Quebec City for distribution in shops. This new form of hybridization has allowed this Mexican artist to grasp the perception of reality through tourist stereotypes. Boltvinik’s project greatly depends on the participation of the citizens of Quebec. The ultimate goal is to infiltrate and circulate art and ideas throughout the city. Guests attending the OFF-PRINTING seminar will be able to contribute to “Absurd Systems” on the 16th and 17th of October.
Bio
Née en 1972, Ilana Boltvinik vit et travaille à Mexico. Elle a fait ses études à La Escuela National de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “la Emeralda” (Mexico), puis à la Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (Amsterdam). Elle compte déjà à son actif une douzaine d’expositions individuelles et collectives.
Démarche
Ilana Boltvinik est une jeune artiste dont les recherches artistiques se concentrent autour des notions d’identité et d’authenticité. Elle voit en l’iconograpie urbaine un langage par lequel nous pouvons mieux reconnaître et découvrir ce que nous sommes. Ses interventions, où s’entremêlent photographie, installation et performance, s’appliquent particulièrement à souligner l’homogénéisation grandissante de la société.
