LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE welcomes the in situ artwork of Paolo Angelosanto. His public interventions seek for the interaction between space and site. “I use my body as an expressive medium in performances, and use photographs and video as a testimony of these performances. The private becomes public within a poetic dimension, before it becomes political”. During his residency at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, Paolo Angelosanto aims to create a substantial dialogue with the territory. To do so, he will meet people in the city to collect their reflection, or simply a word that emerge when he mentions Italy. He will use the documentation of these meetings to produce a video that will be presented beside various artworks, such as pictural artworks, sculpture, sketches and thoughts. The progressive accumulation of these works will make a kind of journey diary coming along with a video entitled Je me souviens showing a trumpeter in a Louis XV costume.

Paolo Angelosanto

Bio

Paolo Angelosanto, né à Saint-Denis (France) en 1972, vit et travaille à Rome (Italie). Depuis 1995, son travail a été exposé plusieurs fois en Italie, ainsi qu’en Pologne et en Chine dans le cadre d’expositions collectives. En 2003, il présentait une exposition solo à Santiago (Chili) et, en 2005, une installation sonore à Helsinki (Finlande). Il pratique la performance depuis plus de dix ans et a également porté des projets de commissariat.

Démarche

En performance, j’utilise mon corps comme un médium expressif. J’emploie la photographie et la vidéo en témoignages de ces actions performatives. L’intime devient publique à l’intérieur d’une dimension poétique, laquelle se meut en dimension politique. Je travaille sur des projets et expérimente au moyen de différents langages plastiques tel que le dessin, la sculpture et le peinture, avec une préférence pour la vidéo et la photographie.
