Takao Minami |
motion/movement
Opening on Thursday February 9th, 2012, at 5 pm. / Within the framework of an exchange program with the Tokyo Wonder Site
During his residency in LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, Takao Minami will decline in two parts a video experimentation work. First, he wishes to produce an installation that will be part of a series inspired by the methods of cubism analytics. Indeed, by recording footages of an object from multiple angles, the artist recompose it in one video plan projected on glass blocks. For the realization of this project, Minami will use objects from its immediate environment in Quebec. Secondly, Takao Minami wishes to start a new series of video pieces that aims to investigate the notion of « move ». To do so, Minami wants to juxtapose a physical movement in real space with a moving image. Working from the found footage of a road movie, he will go through the same route as gone through in the movie while recording the GPS data of his journey. Then, he will use these data to set the playing speed of the movie, which will get along with the rhythm and speed of its own geographical movement.
