For a forth consecutive year, the exchange program between Tokyo Wonder Site (JP) and LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE (QC) introduces to the Quebec art scene a young Japanese artist working with media arts and technology. This year, we are happy to welcome So Kanno who adopts robotics, electronic and sound art, in order to put forward a refined and sensible research on the phenomenology of the medias he uses. For his project, Objects of sound, produced during his site-specific residency from April 22nd to June 17th 2013, So Kanno presents a set of four sound objects, whose installative configuration establishes a distinctive spatialization. By carefully choosing the used materials – raw and common materials in their majority – the artist explores the sound potential contained in their own materiality, and gives rise to instruments of new type. Linked in an automated network, these sound mecanisms initiate an acoustic play with each other, but also with the echoic space of the gallery. Objects of sound will be exhibited in our gallery from June 13th to June 20th 2013.
