LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE is proud to announce its new exchange program with the art centre Studio Flight/777 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. This exchange begins with the welcoming of Croatian artist Božidar Jurjević who will be among us within the framework of a site-specific residency from January 13th to February 28th 2014. His work will be disseminated in collaboration with Mois Multi 15.
Božidar Jurjević is a performance artist who reflects, through his work, on issues such as life, death, energy, and crisis. For his second encounter with the public, on Monday, February 24th 2014 at 5pm, the artist will present a selection of his performances from the beginning of the 90s until today. Within the framework of his residency, Božidar Jurjević will work on the conception of a new and progressive work of art, broaching the notion of luminosity. Different projections on ice will bring the artist to transfer Mediterranean luminosity to our Nordic environment. During his residency, Jurjević will initiate a research on northern luminosity and will present a series of performances in relation to his Quebec experience.
Bio
Božidar Jurjević vit et travaille à Dubrovnik, Croatie. Il est dimplômé de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts de Sarajevo en 1988. Ses œuvres vidéo et de performance ont été présentées à l’exposition Body and the East (galerie Exit, New York, 2001), au Festival Vidéo Formes de Clermont Ferrand (France, 2002), à l’exposition Body.City (galerie MC, New York, 2006), à l’exposition £IB€RTA (Musée de l'art moderne, Dubrovnik, 2008), entre autres. Il a présenté ses performances et interventions dans le cadre d'événements divers en Croatie, en France, aux États-Unis, en Espagne, en Italie, en Slovenie et en Roumanie, entre autres.
