Within the framework of the France-Quebec exchanges program, Géographies variables.
With « Plagiairc - Parler avec les mots des autres », Nicolas Boillot suggests to use public textual communications flow as raw material to feed a private communication. Joining the line of previous works where the imposition of constraints generates a new form of textual composition, the « Plagiairc » interface will not allow the speaker to express himself through a classic keyboard. Indeed, to emit sentences, he will have to use the words of others and specific semantics of the users of the Internet Relay Chat (I.R.C), a real-time Internet text messaging mainly designed for group communication. This Web art project will set up an interface where, by selecting one by one these public words, the speaker will compose a kind of « cadavre exquis ». The notion of the author being dissolved, a reflection about the ways of communication through the Internet, as well as on the ways of consumption and appropriation of the contents of others will begin through this project.

Bio

Après des études à l’Ecole Supérieure d'art d'Aix-en-Provence où il obtient un diplôme national supérieur d’expression plastique (DNSEP) en 2003, il poursuit son cursus universitaire par un master 2 recherche en arts numériques à l’école supérieure de l’image d’Angoulême et à l’Université de Poitiers en 2004. Ses travaux ont été présentés entre autres à La Bande vidéo (Québec, Canada, 2009), Norapolis VI et VII (Metz, France, 2008-2009), à la 8ème Biennal de vidéo, art et nouveaux médias de Santiago (Santiago, Chili, 2007), à Art Tech Media (Espagne, 2006), au 25ème Viper : Festival international de film, vidéo et nouveaux médias (Bâle, Suisse, 2006) et à Simbiosis: Zones de contact (Luarca, Espagne, 2005).

Démarche

Nicolas Boillot est un artiste plasticien qui travaille principalement dans le domaine des nouveaux médias. Une partie de son travail s'oriente autour de la notion de flux d'information. Il élabore des dispositifs qui par agencement, accumulation, configuration nouvelle, tentent de dégager de nouvelles interprétations, de mettre en évidence une facette indicible, une nouvelle lecture de ces flux.
