LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE welcomes three French artists within a collaboration with La Station (Nice). For this special event, the public is invited to come and discover installations around themes of the artificial and monstrous created by these artists during their two week residence. Opening will be held on March 17 at 8 pm in the presence of the artists. The exhibition will continue until April 23, 2006. /// Jean Robert Cuttaïa takes photographs of his Action Joe figure that he places in various scenes in order to operate a change of scale. In doing so, he modifies the status of self-portrait which is brought back to a simple image, conventional and ambiguous. Projection or transfer, the limit between reality and fiction is no longer important, but the artist cannot avoid the connection to the creature inspired by Mary Shelley which, beyond the story, devours the identity of its creator. /// Ingrid Luche creates drawings by the incrustation of false crystal diamonds Swarovski in the wall, delicately flirting with ornamentation. She develops small universes where electric wiring, bulbs and gelatines are added to Indian ink, wash drawing and soot to produce simple but fragile luminous atmospheres. A way to highlight the empty spaces and to translate the illusions of consumption into images. /// Cédric Teisseire likes to disturb and confuse realities. His topographic interventions on the quality and structure of walls suggest that artificial separations between two spaces act like a "skin", the visible repercussions on one side inducing the existence of the imaginary actions of the other. To make the walls fluid and liquid, these are metamorphoses towards the monstrous, thus modifying the contemplative gaze of the spectator. /// This project is part of a partnership between institutions and artists of Québec and Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Three Québec artists (Ève Cadieux, Amélie Laurence Fort and Caroline Gagné) will present their installations at the Station, in Nice, in May and June 2006.
