Monter dans le bois

Research residency at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE's documentation centre /// Artist talk on June 10th, 2010, at 5 pm.
Caroline Loncol Daigneault's interests reside in issues of ecology and site-specific practices, more specifically through the notion of the “artist residency” in nature. Over the course of her stay, she will transpose her academic research on the subject to LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE’s documentation centre. Loncol Daigneault posits that studies on the matter hold strong discursive potential: “Settling as territories dedicated to art and to the preservation of nature while giving themselves the mission to pursue an in-depth investigation of the dialogue between culture and nature, these residencies lead the artists to confront their art to natural – even wild – spaces that become observatories, laboratories, studios and exhibition spaces situated off the usual production and dissemination maps”. Aiming to define the contribution of Quebec in the current stakes on art and nature, Caroline Loncol Daigneault sees in this residency an opportunity to draw up a panorama of the artist-in-residence phenomenon using the case-study of Boreal/Nature.
