Research residency

From March 13th to May 5th 2013, LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE will open wide the doors to its documentation centre for Quebec artists Boris Dumesnil-Poulin and Marie-Pier April for a research residency. The project put forward by the two artists is the theoretical and analytical continuation of their work Le graphique et le géographique, conceived during a production residency at Laboratoire NT2 (Montreal) during summer 2012 whitin the framework of the France-Quebec exchange program, Géographies Variables. This work on strolling and subjective cartography was essentially fueled by geopoetry that favours territorial exploration through the observations, the reflections and the intuitions of our sensitive body. After a production period, Dumesnil-Poulin and April will take advantage of the research residency at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE in order to dive into theoretical and historical work that tackles cartography and its evolution, as much in its capacity of science, political force and territorial measure; as means of artistic expression, a unit of rebellion and subjectivity, saturated with poetry and the impressions of our sensitive and intelligent body. The artists will entierly dispose of their research period and of our archives, while bringing up a possible future sharing of their discoveries on the web or upon an open meeting.
