C’est avec un esprit préoccupé que Regart, centre d’artistes en art actuel, propose aux artistes et aux commissaires de réfléchir à la décroissance dans le cadre de l’appel de dossiers 2020-2022. Un esprit préoccupé par l’urgence climatique, préoccupé par le surmenage des artistes et des travailleur.se.s culturel.le.s, préoccupé par l’empreinte écologique des pratiques artistiques, un esprit préoccupé par le paradigme d’une croissance économique perpétuelle.
Comment imaginer un art qui en fait moins, mais qui fait mieux; imaginer un art qui ralenti, un art en décroissance? Comment faire de l’art une ressource renouvelable? Comment développer de nouvelles formes artistiques qui résistent à la croissance? En quoi l’art peut contribuer à repenser les fondements du système économique actuel?
À noter : Regart devra déménager dans un lieu indéterminé au cours de sa programmation 2020-2022. En conséquent les propositions n’ont pas se limiter aux espaces d’exposition actuels de Regart et peuvent s’imaginer dans une variété de configurations possibles.

DEGROWTH
Artists and Independent Curators

In our 2020-2022 call for submissions, it is with a preoccupied mind that Regart, artist-run centre is offering artists and curators the opportunity to reflect on the concept of degrowth*. This call seeks to address our concerns about plural and diverse yet related topics: the climate crisis, the overwork of artists and cultural workers, the ecological footprint of artistic practices and the paradigm of perpetual economic growth.
How to imagine an art that makes less but makes better, an art that slows down, an art that resists the urges of perpetual growth and efficiency as paramount priorities? How can we make art a renewable resource, or develop new artistic forms that are seeking degrowth results? How can art help us rethink and reconceive the foundations of the current economic system?
Note: Regart will have to relocate to a new location during its 2020-2022 programming. Therefore proposals need not be limited to Regart's current exhibition spaces, but rather need to be open to various possible configurations.
* Degrowth as an increasingly popular response to the idea of perpetual growth as privileged in our capitalist economy.
